This week we have two speakers who work together in our community for the well-being of our children and to fight child abuse, Claudnyse Hollaman and Andrea LeGendre. Claudnyse D. Holloman (pictured) is a dedicated advocate for the well-being of children. Previously, she worked as a private practice attorney, representing both children and adults in various capacities, including several non-profit organizations. Currently, she serves as the President & CEO of Voices for Children Advocacy Center, where her focus is on helping children and families who have been victims of child abuse, neglect, and human trafficking. Throughout her tenure, Claudnyse has actively worked to expand services and improve laws for child survivors, solidifying Voices for Children Advocacy Center as a leading organization in the Mid-Michigan area. As a dedicated public servant, Andrea LeGendre has spent her career devoted to the People of Genesee County and beyond. Andrea has spent the past 25 years as an Assistant County Prosecutor with the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office. As Bureau Chief, leading the Felony Trial Division, she also oversees Family and Probate Court handling hearings involving child abuse and neglect, delinquencies, guardianships and civil mental health proceedings. |

Time for another one of our famous road trips, this time on foot. Following the luncheon and business part of our meeting, we are going to walk around the corner into the Redwood brewing area where Brewmaster Rockne will give us a guided tour and show us how beer is brewed. He brings his 20 years of experience and love for traditional German beers to Redwood Lodge, taking Redwood’s beers to the forefront of beer lover’s palettes. |

Every month from September through April we honor two students from each of three high schools in the area, Carman-Ainsworth, Swartz Creek and Powers Catholic for their service to their schools and to their community. Students are selected by the teachers and staff members of the schools
In May the three schools are then asked to select one of their Student of the Month candidates to receive the coveted GVR Student of the Year awarded of a $1,000 scholarship toward the college, university or trade school of their choice.
