October 5, 2021 - Kids and Challenges of this Covid World
Tauzarri Robinson, CEO Boys & Girls Club, Flint
We know firsthand from club members who are school administrators some of the challenges of educating children in the era of covid. Tauzarri talks about how his program copes with the same problem outside of the schools.
The FIA is a true hidden gem of the Flint area. More than a collection of artwork, the FIA teaches art classes, screens films, holds lectures and discussions and raises the level of learning throughout our county. John will be here to tell us about the many upcoming programs and special events planned for the next few months.
Each month during the school year the club honors two students from each of three high schools in the area, Carman-Ainsworth, Swartz Creek and Powers. To accommodate each school's health policies, we will be honoring students either via Zoom or in person this year.
At the end of the year one student from each school will be selected for Student of the Year and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
October 26, 2021 - McLaren Flint Foundation
Douglas Glazier, Vice President
Doug will discuss the role of the foundation providing support to health care services in the area. One of the foundation's areas of focus is the McLaren Hospitality House which provides overnight accomodations to outpatients receiving treatment and for families of patients. Our club's annual gift to the foundation is used for helping to cover the costs of this excellent program.
